Overcoming Fears

Things Lily was initially terrified of and now couldn't care less about:

ice machine/dispenser

noise and motion made by someone putting up the footrest(s) on the reclining sofa

washer/dryer

Things Lily was not afraid of at first but is now:

My parents' cat, Harry, who whacked Lily on the nose the first time they met and she tried to come up to him to say hello.

  1. Clear and sympathetic catalog of those normal, everyday things that can scare a sensitive rescue dog. Now, if only our rescue dogs could talk, and tell us exactly what it is that makes these everyday things so scary, at least at first! :)

    Love your blog!

  2. The ice thing was a huge issue at our house! And as mighty as Melvin is, he'll chase a cat but the moment that cat turns around and hisses, he'll pee himself. Lily is lucky to have you!!!

    1. Aww, thanks! Lily actually often comes running now when she hears the ice machine 'cause I have a tendency to accidentally drop ice cubes on the floor and she likes to bat them around on the tile ;)
